Cooking with a pressure cooker can seem so intimidating at first - "I overcooked my meat!" "My meat wasn't done enough!" and "My meat was still bloody in the middle!" are all lamentations that we've seen from new MultiPot users.
My advice? Stick to trusted recipes like the ones on Mealthy.com until you feel comfortable enough with your pressure cooker to start making up your own recipes! You can also use recipes from bloggers and websites that you trust that are written for electric pressure cookers, sometimes they're just called "InstantPot" recipes.
Once you're ready to start coming up with your own recipes, follow our easy guide to cooking meat in the MultiPot. Here are several of my favorite recipes, listed by protein type, to get you started on your path to perfect-pressure-cooked-meat. You'll notice that sometimes the cook times in these recipes diverge from the times I recommend on my meat cooking chart. That's because they either incorporate a natural pressure release time (which adds more cooking time) or have a lot of other ingredients in the pot that also need to get cooked. Trust that there are many ways to get meat cooked, perfectly, in the pressure cooker.
Pressure Cooker Country Style Barbecue Ribs: In this recipe, the author calls for a 15-minute cook time with an 8-minute natural pressure release. Tossed in a homemade barbecue sauce, these ribs look delectable.
Beef Chuck Roast
Beef chuck roast is one of our favorite cuts of meat to cook in the MultiPot here at Mealthy HQ, because it's affordable, and so. dang. delicious when pressure cooked to perfection.
Pressure Cooker Pot Roast: This is actually the recipe that we used at HQ to test our different pressure cooker prototypes - how cool is that! In addition to being a special part of Mealthy history, it's a perfect, simple pressure cooker recipe that will feed a crowd on a dime.
Pressure Cooker Beef Stew: I will begrudgingly admit that summer is almost over, and we are entering the cooler temperatures of Fall, the kind of temperatures that just beg for a good homemade stew. Look no further than this beef stew with potatoes and carrots.
Pressure Cooker Mississippi Pot Roast: Mississippi Pot Roast is one of those viral internet recipes that you only understand once you make it. The meat is so flavorful, and again, this recipe feeds a crowd very inexpensively. I recently used some of the leftover beef to make Italian Beef Sandwiches with pepperoncinis and provolone, and I thought my husband was going to propose all over again.
Boneless Pork Chops
Smothered Pork Chops: In this recipe, boneless pork chops are smothered in onions and broth, which then create an onion-y sauce to serve with the juicy, succulent chops.
Pork Chops with Mushroom Gravy: I'd advise cutting the cook time on this recipe down to our recommended 10 minutes, but otherwise, this recipe looks most excellent.
Pork Loin Roast
Pressure Cooker Loin Roast: This recipe is packed with fresh herbs and seasonings to make the pork extra delicious.
Pressure Cooker Pork Roast: Need to cook your pork shoulder way faster than 24 minutes per pound? Cut it up into smaller pieces like they do here. That goes for any piece of meat, by the way.
Faux-Tisserie Chicken: All the flavors and crispy skin of a French bistro's rotisserie chicken!
Boneless Chicken Breasts
Pressure Cooker Poached Chicken Breasts: Keep it simple. This is the best recipe when you just need plain, unadulterated chicken breasts. I use a cook time + natural pressure release method here, but the 8 minutes indicated on our chart will do the same trick. Simple a different method.
Pressure Cooker Chicken and Rice: This has to be one of the most comforting dishes out there. Mushrooms, rice, chicken, yum.
Pressure Cooker Skinny Sesame Chicken: All the flavor of takeout Chinese sesame chicken, without all the fat and mystery ingredients.
Pressure Cooker Buffalo Chicken Chili: A shredded chicken chili with all the flavors of buffalo chicken wings. Yes and yes.
Bone-In Chicken Breasts
Fall-Off-the-Bone Chicken: Succulent, tender chicken. This cook time is longer than necessary, but a longer cook time can actually yield more tender results in some cases, including this one.
Boneless Chicken Thighs & Legs
Sticky Chili-Garlic Noodles with Chicken: People RAVE about these noods!
Pressure Cooker Lemon Chicken with Rice: The pressure cooker allows for a shorter marination time, meaning that you don't have to think so far in advance! Score!
Bone-In Chicken Thighs & Legs
Pressure Cooker Chicken Cacciatore: This is one of the first recipes I suggest when friends ask me what to cook with their new MultiPot. It's so flavorful, filling, and the chicken is so tender.
