Full disclosure: I am not a PSL girl. But the barrage of pumpkin spiced goods that infiltrate the grocery store every year on September 1st suggests that I am completely alone in that sentiment. And listen, I get it! By September 1st, everyone is tired of sweating through their clothes the second they walk out the door. They're ready for cooler temperatures, cozy sweaters, and UGG boots. And for whatever reason, over the past many years, "pumpkin spice" has become synonymous with Fall.

I've been on a major oatmeal kick lately, and when I saw these pumpkin spice oatmeal packets at my local grocery store, inspiration struck. I like pumpkin pie, I just don't like pumpkin pie flavored coffee beverages, so why shouldn't I like pumpkin spice oatmeal? I grabbed a can of pumpkin puree and set off with a newfound pumpkin spice purpose.

The next morning I headed immediately into the kitchen to get started. I figured I'd start by adapting this recipe by our Head of Product, Jen, and go from there. Well, lucky me, I struck gold on my very first try. Her recipe is the perfect basic steel-cut oatmeal recipe to base any flavor combo you might want to try off of. I basically just inserted my pumpkin spice ingredients into the recipe above and BAM, delicious Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal! Note: I used all water instead of part water, part milk, because I knew I'd get a lot of creaminess from the pumpkin. But if you want to use milk, go for it!
