Classic Margarita Cocktail
- kosher salt as needed
- 1 lime wedge
- 2 oz blanco tequila
- 2 oz fresh lime juice
- 1 oz triple sec (orange-flavored liqueur), such as Cointreau
- lime slice to garnish
- Pour some kosher salt onto a small plate. Rub lime wedge around outside rim of a margarita glass or old fashioned glass. Dip moistened rim of the glass in salt to coat. Set aside.
- Fill cocktail shaker with ice; pour tequila, lime juice, and Cointreau over the top. Cover and shake until the shaker is frosted and cold, about 30 seconds. Strain cocktail into salt-rimmed glass and garnish with a slice of lime.
Fresh lime juice and good quality tequila are essential to making a great margarita - choose wisely! Whip up a batch of fresh guacamole, open a bag of tortilla chips, and you've got yourself the perfect happy hour. Whether you are sitting on your patio in the sun or are gathered around the kitchen table on a winter day, this cocktail will improve your mood and add refreshment to your day.

I'm such a fan of tequila, and this recipe works really well. I used Patron, but I am sure any blanco tequila would work well.
